The unique pebbled beaches of Baska on the island of Krk make it ones of this region’s most visited and highly regarded areas. Bounded on one side by a 2km pebble beach and bluest blue sea and on the other by scenic olive groves and vineyards, it is no wonder that this tourist town is so popular. Krk is the largest island in the Adriatic Sea and as well as its lovely coastline, has a number of other attractions.

This could just be the ultimate family bucket-and-spade holiday destination. Rab has many sandy beaches, unusual for this region. Some are more geared towards children while others do have a free and easy nudist vibe. Whatever you are looking for, Rabs lovely golden sandy beaches have something for everyone, whether you want to be active or just sit and relax. ‘Paradise beach’ is a good one for families. If you are coming to Rab for the beaches, the small town of Lopar, which has over twenty beaches nearby, is a good place to base yourself.

The beaches of the island of Cres are well-known and highly regarded. Try Sveti Ivan under the town of Lubenice, or the two family friendly beaches of Valun. If you are looking for a quieter beach then you could try going to Marascica beach near Stivan Village, or to other secluded sections of shoreline nearby. This area is very good for safe swimming. Alternatively, explore the delights of one of the two beaches near the village of Ustine, also with pretty pebble strands and pristine blue seas.

This party island has a number of gorgeous beaches on which to bathe and from which to swim. Zrce beach is said to be one of the best party beaches of Europe, where the young and the stunningly gorgeous come to see and be seen. This party central may not be for everyone, but if you are looking for sexy fun in the sun then this could be the perfect place for you.
Most people who come to Croatia choose to go further south, but it is a shame to overlook this region’s varied delights in favour of those better known ones. As you can tell from the above, the Kvarner Islands have a lot to offer.
